Fellow gearheads, it has been a while since I covered an exotic sports car. This supercar is one that should be covered more often. This is the new Lamborghini Centenario Roadster, and it is bad to the bone! We have covered other Lamborghinis before, but this one is pretty amazing!
Lamborghini released this special run called the Lamborghini Centenario Roadster. This is one of the cars they call a “few-off” run. This means it is not a one of a kind, but it is not a regular production car either. This car was meant to be driven, and built for performance. There were 20 of these made, and as you can imagine, they are all collectible now. The car is a roadster, with its open top design making for fun on a sunny day drive. The body and frame are made of carbon fiber, so it is very lightweight. This makes for a very responsive and nimble roadster, capable of pushing hard in the straightaway and in the curves.
Unique and Exotic Supercar
They wanted to do something really unique with this series, so they let the designers go wild and build whatever they wanted. The open design and unique looks make for a stunning supercar. This combination of clean lines and aggressive looks made it an instant hit. They also developed a new color paint just for this car. The color is called “Argento Centenario” which is a matte finish instead of the glossy finish we usually see. This required developing a new high tech process that essentially dissolves the body and gives the car a metal grain look. This is something that had not been done before.
A car that looks this awesome on the outside has to have a cockpit that is equally awesome. The Centenario features a light brown leather interior they call “Terra di California” with “Bianco Polar” inlays. The attention to detail is stunning. The designers wanted to give drivers the best driving experience while also providing comfort and luxury. The interior even features a channel behind the seat headrest which allows air to flow over the car and apply downforce to the spoiler on the rear of the car. This means there is no wind turbulence inside the car at high speed with the top down.
If the design doesn’t grab you, the tech specs for the Lamborghini Centenario Roadster surely will get your attention. The V12 engine in this lightweight car makes 770 horsepower at 8.600 RPMs! This allows this monster to accelerate from 0 – 60 MPH in 2.9 seconds. and a top speed of 217 MPH!! This car also has a unique feature that makes it a track beast – it has rear wheel steering! This allows for pinpoint accuracy on the curves. The front and rear wheels turn in perfect harmony to allow the car to ride the track like it is on rails.
As I mentioned earlier, they only made 20 of these cars. That means, as you can imagine, the price is not cheap. The new price for the Lamborghini Centenario Roadster was $2,230,000. However, I am seeing the resale market of upwards of $2,8 million used for these cars. That is not quite as much as the Most Expensive Plymouth we covered a while back, but it is steep! If you really love this car, and have that amount of cash, they can be had today. If you get one, please let us know! We would love to see it!
