I don’t think any of my readers will disagree when I say this car is smoking hot! I had a chance to interview the owner regarding this beautiful beast, and he shared with me the details. The owner is Retired Air Force Lt Col Dr. Chris Reynolds, CEM, MEMS, CFO, EFO, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.). Be sure to follow him on Twitter to learn more about his adventures with this car. His Twitter handle is @DrChrisR
The Car When He Bought It
Dr, Reynolds purchased the car from American Dream Machines in Des Moines, Iowa in 2016 after selling his 1969 Camaro Convertible Resto-Mod to RK Motors in Charlotte, NC. How can one guy be so lucky as to have so many cool cars? Dr. Reynolds tells Bryan’s Wheels that the car was in reasonably good shape when he bought it, but it needed suspension, transmission, engine, and interior upgrades to fully meet his needs. He had a vision in mind of what it would be when he was finished, and he accomplished it! It took almost 2 years to get it to where it is now, but his hard work and perseverance paid off. He started by pulling out the tired old 396 Big Block and replacing it with a GM 383 Stroker engine with Fast Burn Aluminum Heads. He also added an Edelbrock Endura Shine Intake and a Billet Specialties Front Runner Serpentine System. Being in the Southern United States, where it gets really hot and humid, he also added Vintage Air, which is an aftermarket Air Conditioning system to keep the passengers comfortable.
Dr. Reynolds also decided to make another modification to enhance the car and ensure he had the best of both worlds – he made this Camaro Convertible a Fuelie! He replaced the traditional carburetor with a FiTech EFI600 Fuel Injection system! To keep that big engine cool, he added an Aluminum 4 Core Radiator with dual 2500 CFM Electric Fans. Being a Gearhead himself, he knew that a car this awesome has to announce its arrival. He added Ceramic Coated Headers flowing through Dual Exhaust with X-Pipe to Magna-Flow Mufflers to ensure everyone within a 3 block radius knew he was coming! Look at the photo below of the undercarriage – you could serve a meal on the floor pan of this car!
This i1967 Camaro Convertible Resto-Mod Pro Touring is gorgeous, but it also has all the gear you need to make it comfortable, fun, and fast! The amount of time, energy, and work put into this car is amazing. The list of features and customization is very extensive! Check out what this car is all about!

Show And Go
Some of you gearheads are probably thinking “W0w, what an awesome car. I bet it never leaves the garage…..a trailer queen for sure”. Nothing could be further from the truth, as this is no trailer queen! Dr. Reynolds DRIVES it weekly to shows and does cruising tours. Dr. Reynolds built this car to be a fun driver, so he enjoys it as often as possible! He even did the Hot Rod Power Tour in 2018, driving the classic Camaro Convertible nearly 3,000 miles. He has also taken it for a lap on the Atlanta Motor Speedway, which must have been an absolute thrill! I would have paid to be in that passenger seat during that run!
Dr, Reynolds has a tremendous love for First Generation Camaros, which was part of the inspiration for building this beautiful beast. His first car in high school in 1975 was a 1969 Camaro, and he has since owned all of the first-generation Camaros at one point in time or another. He still loves the 1967 Camaro best, which is probably part of what inspired him to build this one.
We would like to thank Dr. Reynolds for sharing this fantastic 1967 Camaro Convertible Resto-Mod Pro Touring with us today. We would also like to welcome him as an Official Gearhead. His hard work and creativity have certainly produced a car that is both vintage and modern, making it a true Resto-Mod Pro Touring. My only question is – when do I get a turn to ride in it, Sir?
Please remember to follow Dr. Reynolds on Twitter and thank him for sharing his prized car at @DrChrisR .
